green-tea-lung-cancerOften heard green tea good for health? Did you know that according to Taiwanese scientists, drink a glass of green tea or more a day can resist the ill effects of cigarettes can cause lung cancer, especially in smokers who did not have cancer, congenital gene.

I-Hsin Lin, a graduate student at Chung Shan Medical University in Taiwan says that the antioxidants in green tea can inhibit tumor growth. This research study presented at the American Association of Cancer Research at the confluence of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer, Coronado, California, was in January 2010.

Lin found a protective effect, especially in smokers group that has specific genotype was not associated with cancer risk. Along with her team, he evaluates 170 patients with lung cancer and 340 healthy patients. They were asked to describe their smoking habits, drinking habits of their green tea and other lifestyle factors for five years.

These researchers do genotyping on the separation of the participants to see if any of them who have inherited genotype associated with cancer risk. These include IGF1, IGF2, and IGFBP3.

In general, the smokers and non smokers who did not drink green tea have a lung cancer risk five times greater than those who drank at least one drink a day, said Lin.

The green tea drinker who does not have an inherent risk of cancer genes have a decreased risk of lung cancer as much as 66 percent compared with the green tea drinkers have the innate genes susceptible to cancer.

Lin himself has said, the best way to avoid cancer cells are exposed to stop smoking, while only green tea reduces the risk.
