Correct Technique for Artificial Breathing
Health Tips December 23rd, 2009
Artificial respiration should help a lot of people know not only health workers. CPR is very helpful if the people closest to us had a heart attack, unconscious or drowned in the pool.
By performing CPR, can prolong the life expectancy of people who lost consciousness. So it is important to know how to do proper CPR.
CPR is a technique that can be done as first aid if someone had a heart attack. This technique serves to normalize the heartbeat that if exposed to attacks of abnormal movement. With the reduced heart rate by itself will return to normal.
“CPR technique is useful to re-activate the heart so that blood circulation to the brain becomes smoother and prevent brain death organ,” said Anwar Buchari EMT, Operation Manager of Medic One, the show Life Saver CPR Competency, in Wisma GKBI, Jakarta, Tuesday (22 / 12/2009).
Anwar added if the brain does not get oxygen for 4 minutes, then the organ is the brain will not work again and naturally the other organs in the body will also die so that the lower the life expectancy of the person.
For that Anwar gives some techniques that can be done in performing CPR, namely:
1. Hazards and safety checks (Danger / safety)
Before doing help make sure that heart attack patients are in a safe place and avoid the danger.
2. Check response (Respone)
Find out whether the person is still conscious or not. This is simply patted the shoulder of people shouting in a loud voice. For example “Sir, can hear my voice?”. If no response from the patient, then immediately contact the ambulance or medical personnel.
3. Open lines of breathing (airway)
While waiting for paramedics to come, people can open the nearest point of breathing in a way the left hand holding his forehead as he pulled back and pulled his right hand under his chin. Put your ear to the patient with a saw, heard and felt a breath or not for 5 to 10 seconds.
4. Give artificial breathing (Breaths)
If no breathing then give artificial breathing by closing the nose and breathes through word of mouth as much as 2 times for 2 seconds. When did this person’s eyes are watching your chest, whether moving or not.
5. Giver pressure (Compression)
After giving 2 breaths made, then put pressure on the chest. For the adults put both hands in the middle of the chest as he pressed with a straight hand position, but for the children only use one hand. Press a third of the chest 30 times.
6. Repeatedly do
After doing 30 times the pressure, give artificial breathing again as much as 2 times and 30 times as much pressure. Do this for 2 minutes.
7. Check breathing again
If you’ve done 5 times with a ratio of 2 sets of artificial breathing and chest 30 times the pressure (2:30) or for 2 minutes, then check whether the patient was breathing or not. If not then repeat it until the 2:30 ratio of medical personnel arrived.
8. If the patient was breathing
If after two minutes the patient’s breathing, then put in recovery position. Namely the supine position to place the top left hand and right hand crosses to the ear, bend your right leg and then tilt the patient to the left by pushing the shoulders and legs simultaneously. However, if the patient did not breathe again, go back and giveĀ artificial breathing and pressure in the chest.
“But if someone fainted because of the trauma victim in the sense of having an impact, it should not be moved. Let him be his position until medics arrived, because any head movement just one degree can be fatal such as paralysis or death,” said paramedic who had worked at 911 New York, United States.
